Planning permission had already been secured to convert this dilapidated semi-detached dwelling into a private dental clinic however the work was put on hold in 2020 due to Covid 19 restrictions. In 2021 we prepared a new scheme, revised to incorporate a number of Covid 19 safety measures to allow the clinic to operate efficiently and safely.
To facilitate the Covid 19 safety measures set out in Standard Operating Procedures for the Dental Management of Non-Covid-19 Patients in Wales a large extension was required. This would allow a one way system through the clinic and additional waiting areas to provide adequate space for patients to maintain social distancing measures when waiting. Additional space is provided for the donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
The original structure will be stripped back to allow complete refurbishment and alterations to provide an open plan reception and waiting area, consultation rooms, offices and staff areas. The extension to the rear will provide space for new dental clinics, waiting areas, sanitary conveniences and a staff training facility. The spaces are intended to be flexible to allow re-purposing for when Covid 19 restrictions are lifted.
